The short version

What it is.

A short tether that stops a dog roaming around the car while you drive.

One end loops over a headrest or clips into the seat belt buckle. The other end has a swivel clip that fastens to a harness. In between is an elastic bungee section, so a sudden stop pulls against something that gives rather than something rigid.

It adjusts from 20 to 27 inches and stretches to about 32 inches at full extension — enough for a dog to sit, lie down or look out of the window, not enough to reach the front seats. The headrest loop adjusts between 16 and 24 inches to fit most headrests. Reflective stitching runs along the webbing, which is useful at a dark car park rather than a safety feature in its own right.

Let out to its full length and unclipped from the car, it works as a short lead for the walk from the car to wherever you are going.

Two things that matter

Clip it to a harness, never to a collar. A collar concentrates any force on the neck. This is the one instruction we would ask you not to improvise around.

Use it in the back. On the back seat a tethered dog cannot reach the driver, and is away from front airbags.

The three modes — headrest loop, buckle clip, and lead — are meant to be used one at a time, not combined.

What this is not

This is a restraint that keeps a dog in one place and out of your way while you drive. It has not been crash tested, and we have no test data from the manufacturer, so we are not going to describe it as crash protection or claim it will hold in a collision. If that is what you are after, you want a certified crash-tested harness system, and we do not sell one.

How it works

A tether that gives when the car stops.

The two ways to fit it: looped over a headrest, or clipped into the seat belt buckle

Clip it to a harness, never a collar.

A sudden stop puts the whole force on the neck otherwise. This is the one rule that matters.

The bungee section gives.

It pulls against something that stretches rather than something rigid.

Headrest loop or belt buckle.

Whichever your car actually has — it fastens both ways.

Before you order

How long does delivery take?

Five to ten business days, and shipping is free with no minimum spend. A tracking number is emailed to you as soon as it leaves the warehouse.

What if it is not right for my pet?

You have thirty days to send it back, and we send the return label. Finding out it was not the one should not cost you anything.

Can I ask a question before I order?

Yes, and we would rather you did. Email info@furrycalm.com and a person replies within one to two business days. If you are not sure this suits your animal, ask first — we would sooner answer the question than process the return.

What if it arrives damaged or wrong?

Send a photo to info@furrycalm.com and we will replace it or refund it. You will not be asked to post a broken item back at your own expense.

From the founder

If the page is wrong, I want to hear it.

Everything on this page is either a manufacturer figure or something we can show you. Where a supplier will not give me a measurement, the page says so rather than inventing one.

That is not generosity — it is the only version of a small shop that survives meeting a real customer. You open the box, and either it is what the page said it was, or it is not.

If it is not, tell me. You have thirty days to send it back, and I would genuinely rather hear about it than not.
